However, circumstances force him back to Urfa, where an old feud between two powerful families changes everything.

Plot Summary
Serhat Yelduran is a talented surgeon who has rejected the traditional life expected of him by his family. After establishing himself in Istanbul, he falls in love with Melek and secretly marries her. The couple hopes to start a new life together away from Serhat's family and the traditions of his birthplace.
Their plans collapse when Serhat has to return to Urfa, where the Yelduran and Kordağlı families have been involved in a long-running blood feud. To end the conflict, Serhat is expected to marry Yıldız Kordağlı.
The situation places Serhat in an impossible position. He loves Melek, but his family expects him to fulfill his responsibility to Yıldız and the Kordağlı family. His transformation from a modern surgeon in Istanbul into an ağa in Urfa becomes one of the central conflicts of the series.
When Melek arrives at the mansion, the situation becomes even more complicated. Her presence threatens the fragile balance between the families, while Serhat struggles between his love for Melek, his growing connection with Yıldız, and the responsibilities forced upon him.
As the story progresses, the characters discover that the conflict is much deeper than it first appears. Secrets from the past, family relationships, revenge, and questions about identity gradually change the relationships between Serhat, Melek, and Yıldız. The series uses these revelations to explore whether people can escape the fate created for them by their families and their past.

Production and Filming
Halef: Köklerin Çağrısı is produced by Most Production, with Gül Oğuz serving as producer. Deniz Çelebi Dikilitaş directs the series, while Ercan Uğur leads the writing team. Music for the production is associated with Güldiyar Tanrıdağlı and Tanrıdağlı Müzik.
The series is strongly connected to Şanlıurfa (Urfa), where its story is set and where much of its visual identity comes from. NOW described the production as being filmed in the distinctive locations and historical atmosphere of Urfa. The region's traditional architecture, landscapes, mansions, and cultural atmosphere provide an important backdrop for the story.
The contrast between Istanbul and Urfa is particularly important to the narrative. Istanbul represents Serhat's modern life as a surgeon and his attempt to create his own future, while Urfa represents his family roots, traditions, obligations, and the past he tried to escape.
The second season is scheduled to premiere on September 24, 2026, with İlhan Şen, Biran Damla Yılmaz, and the returning ensemble continuing the story. NOW has also announced the second-season production and promotional campaign ahead of its return.
